Who should sign up for this course?
- This course is open to families who have children of any age. Purposeful parenthood is just as important for infants as it is for teenagers. It will be most helpful for families whose children still live at home. Much of the course will still be relevant to families who are expecting a child in the next nine months, but it is not specifically designed for pregnancy.
How does the course work?
- Spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and will be limited to the first 100 participants. The total cost is $99 USD.
- When you register for the course, please use a Google Mail e-mail address. That way, I can send you the password-protected web address for the course, and you will be able to log in with your gmail account. You will also receive information about joining the online community.
- You will receive all the log-in information within 24 hours of payment and you will be welcome to access the website to take a peek at the pre-work. You can also log into the community forum area to create your profile and introduce yourself.

You can work through the course independently, or you can engage with others in the community forum area. Each post will have a corresponding forum topic for shared comments, but you will also be invited to start your own discussion threads that relate to the course topics.
- You do not need to be at your computer at a certain time each day! This course will wait for you.
- The only prerequisites are internet access and a willingness to reflect!
What does this course focus on?
- Each week has a different theme. The theme for the first week is Vision, and we will start by thinking about what kind of family we want to create. This process will include activities such as reflecting on our childhoods. The theme for the second week is Space and we will think through the kind of physical environment we want to create in order to nurture our families in the best way possible. This process will include identifying an area in our home that we would like to improve. The theme for the third week is Time, and we will think through how we spend our days, weeks, months, and years as a family. The final theme is Connection, and we will assess the strengths and areas of growth within our partnerships and support networks.
Will I have access to the course materials after the course is over?
- Absolutely! All the course content and material will be open for two weeks past the course end date. You'll be able to review posts that really resonated with you or catch up on any material you missed or exercises you didn't have time to complete. I'm sorry, but a pdf of the course material is not available at this time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this course LGBT friendly?
- Absolutely! This course works from the premise that intentional, loving families manifest themselves in diverse ways. First, the language is inclusive. Secondly, we don't tolerate any hate speech in the community forum. It has never been an issue because the course tends to attract only like-minded individuals, but if it ever becomes an issue, it will be handled promptly.
Can partners work through the course and participate in the community forum area, too?
- When you register for the course, you are welcome to share your private login information with your partner without paying any additional registration. Your partners are also welcome to participate in the Community Forum area with their own log-in information. Any of you who want this option for your partners can let me know in the "additional notes" section of your paypal registration, and I can be sure to send him/her an individual invitation to join the community forum area.
Any chance you'll be giving away a course or have scholarships available?
- From time to time, I host a giveaway, and I always link to them on Feeding the Soil, so you can find them. I debated a lot about whether or not to charge for this course. I benefit every day from the generosity of others on the internet. People share so, so much! However, once I started planning the course (creating content maps, researching various technology options, designing the site, etc.), I realized that it was going to take not only days and days or weeks and weeks but months and months. I already spend a lot of time generating free content via my three blogs (with little to no financial reward--expect for the Amazon Affiliates program). Also, my hope is that the registration fee will help ensure that people are signing up for the course with commitment and intention to prioritize it and make the most out of their four weeks. It will also require a substantial time commitment throughout the four weeks of the course to moderate the content and the discussion.
